Norlender knitwear started in 1927 built from the Tveiten family that lived on a mountain farm with a knitting machine brought up to the homestead by horse. It was taken over by the family's third generation in 1989 when they reinvested in larger scale machinery which enabled them to expand production into cardigans and pullovers but remained true to the heritage of the origin. Today, Norlender Knitwear is one of the few existing textile factories in Norway and they continue to use Norwegian wool yarns spun in Norway. New ones today retail around $400.
This vintage 80s one is nothing short of gorgeous. It has silver floral engraved buttons down center front and the most beautiful design in the knit of the cardigan. The back is as interesting as the front with the continuation of the design that cascades down the center back. The sleeves on her are more on the petite side. She is overall in amazing condition and has been washed and steamed. This wool is not itchy, but does have the high quality old wool feel that I adore.
